OMG! My Ubuntu Phone has arrived

Since 17 of March, the first batch of retail Ubuntu phones from Spanish firm bq are on their way. Mine was delivered yesterday by UPS, so customers who bought theirs on the flash sales should be about to receive it too.

I already had sort of an Ubuntu Phone -a do it yourself edition to be precise- but, although they are alike, nothing compares to the excitement of being a proud owner of the real thing: the first ever Ubuntu Phone.

I bought this device mainly to support the platform, and also to toy with it. Only time will tell if it can become my primary device. That's a a rather ambitious goal that I hope Ubuntu meets. Meanwhile, here you are with some photos of what I got.

The wait is over

The parcel was delivered in a plastic bag, with a tatty cardboard box inside. At least, the content is well protected and has not been damaged during transportation.

Sealed box, made of recycled paper with touches of Ubuntu stuff here and there. Like the Android retail box, only prettier because of the Ubuntu Edition badge ;-)

The Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition looks somehow iphonesque, a far cry from the Ubuntu Edge concept. Nothing to write home about, except this one comes with a better OS.

Lots of cardboard inside, feels cozy. Box contains the phone, an USB cable, an AC adapter, a micro SIM / microSD removal tool, the warranty card, a quick start guide and an accessories leaflet.
